April marks Volunteer Appreciation Month . We’re proud to celebrate the incredible individuals who give their time, talent, and heart to support our mission. Volunteers help us empower Albertans facing barriers to employment – whether through creative programming, skill‑building support, or simply showing up with encouragement and compassion.

At our recent all‑staff meeting, one of our dedicated volunteers shared what motivates her to be part of Prospect’s Person’s with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) program:

“Every volunteer hour I have given, I have received back an even bigger gift from clients. I’m inspired by the encouragement they show to one another. Regardless of their journey, they continue to grow in their confidence.”

Her words reflect what we see every day : Volunteers don’t just support our work! They elevate it. They help create welcoming spaces where people can learn, grow, and rediscover their potential.

To all our volunteers, thank you for your generosity, your compassion, and your belief in the people we serve. Prospect is stronger because of you.

Looking to Volunteer?

As we celebrate Volunteer Appreciation Month, we’re also preparing for one of our most important fundraising events of the year—our upcoming casino fundraiser.

This event plays a critical role in supporting Prospect’s ability to deliver free employment services and skill-building programs to Albertans facing barriers to employment. Alberta’s charitable gaming model is unique in Canada. It’s the only province where charitable organizations are licensed to conduct and manage casino events and it represent a significant portion of the funding that keeps community-based organizations like ours operating and growing.

We are currently looking for volunteers to support our casino fundraiser on July 10 and 11, at ACE Casino in Calgary. Roles include Banker, Cashiers, Chip Runners, Count Room Staff, and Count Room Supervisor. No previous experience is required, and full training is provided. Every role contributes directly to the success of the event.
