Our Story

At Prospect, building a strong workforce for a strong Alberta is our number one job.

For over 50 years, we’ve helped thousands of Albertans overcome barriers to employment and discover their potential. Whether someone is navigating a career change, entering the workforce for the first time, or facing challenges related to disability, mental health, or systemic inequity, we’re here to help.

We believe employment is more than a job. It’s confidence. It’s community. It’s possibility.

Where We Started

Prospect began with a simple but powerful mission: to reduce barriers and deliver sustainable solutions so that everyone, regardless of circumstance, can reach their employment potential. Over the decades, we’ve grown from a small team into a province-wide organization with multiple locations and a reputation for innovation, inclusion, and impact.

Where We Are Today

Today, Prospect offers over 20 employment programs across Alberta, serving more than 14,000 people each year. Our services are free and open to all Albertans. We work with youth, seniors, newcomers, veterans, first responders, persons with disabilities, and anyone who feels the job search process has become daunting.

We also work with over 950 employers annually to help them build inclusive, diverse workplaces. From hiring events and job fairs to customized training and workforce consultations, we help employers connect with skilled candidates and create environments where everyone can thrive.

How We Work

Our approach is collaborative and client-centered. We offer a continuum of services that meet people where they are. Whether they’re preparing for work, looking for a job, trying to keep a job, or changing careers, our Career Advisors work with each person to build a personalized plan. Our programs include everything from resume support and interview prep to peer mentorship, digital literacy, and art-based learning.

We also offer services in multiple formats: in-person, online, and hybrid. This ensures accessibility for all.

What We Believe

We believe in breaking barriers and employing change. That’s not just a tagline. It’s our promise.

We believe in inclusive workplaces that reflect the full diversity, talent, and strength of Alberta. We believe in the power of community, creativity, and courage. And we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to build a better future.
