Workforce Development for PWD

Helping job seekers in Edmonton build confidence, develop skills, and find meaningful employment.



Prospect’s Workforce Development for Persons with Disabilities is a free, in-person employment program in Edmonton designed to support job seekers with disabilities who are looking to enter or re-enter the workforce.

We understand that everyone’s journey to employment is different. That’s why this program offers i ndividualized, flexible support based on your unique needs, interests, and goals. Whether you’ve been out of work for a while, are unsure of where to start, or need more hands-on guidance than standard services can offer, this program's for you.



What You Can Expect


Over the course of 16 weeks , you’ll work closely with our team to build a personalized Employment Action Plan . This plan becomes your roadmap, helping you focus on the right tools, supports, and next steps to reach your employment goals.

Depending on your interests and needs, you can participate in one or more of the following streams:



Program Streams


Employability Skill Building

This stream focuses on developing workplace and life skills in a supportive, hands-on setting.

  • Offered through interactive art-based workshops

  • Builds skills like teamwork, time management, communication, and confidence

  • Ideal if you’re looking for a creative, non-traditional way to prepare for employment


Career Development & Job Search Support

If you’re ready to look for work, we’ll help you explore careers, understand your strengths, and get job search–ready.

  • One-on-one and small group support

  • Resume and interview coaching

  • Labour market insights and career exploration tools

  • Help identifying potential accommodations or workplace supports


Mental Health and Wellbeing Support

We know that job searching can be stressful, especially if you’ve had setbacks in the past.

  • Workshops designed to build resilience and motivation

  • Strategies for managing stress and maintaining focus

  • Ongoing emotional support throughout your employment journey





Work Exposure and Employer Connections


We’ll also support you in connecting directly with inclusive employers in the community. This might include:

  • Applying for jobs that match your skills and goals

  • Attending hiring events or employer spotlights

  • Participating in a Work Exposure placement (up to 8–12 weeks), where you can gain real work experience in a supportive environment

All employer connections are designed to lead toward long-term, sustainable employment.



Additional Supports


This program includes access to other important services to support your job search success:

  • Short-term training opportunities to boost your employability (certifications, workshops, etc.)

  • ASL interpreting services available as needed

  • A fully accessible resource centre with computer access, adaptive tools, and one-on-one assistance

  • WRES funding to help with costs related to job readiness (such as work clothing, transportation, etc.)



Who Can Join


This program is open to individuals in the Edmonton area who:

  • Identify as having a disability (visible or invisible)

  • Are looking for employment or exploring career options

  • Could benefit from personalized support in reaching their employment goals

There’s no cost to join, and no referral is needed. We welcome self-referrals or connections through community partners.
