Transition to Employment and Workplace Training for Employers

Build your team with motivated talent. We’ll help.

Stop relying on luck when it comes to hiring. Prospect’s Workplace Training program connects employers with job seekers who are ready to learn, grow, and contribute to your business. Whether you’re looking for someone to fill a key role or want to support workforce development in your community, we make the process easier—at no cost to you.

Employer Benefits

Workplace Training helps you grow your team while investing in local talent. You gain:

  • A larger candidate pool
Tap into job seekers eager to gain real-world experience and build long-term careers.

  • Customized skills training
We support the development of industry-specific skills, certifications, and micro-credentials tailored to your business needs.

  • Cost savings
Prospect provides wage and training support to ease the cost of onboarding new employees.

  • A stronger reputation
Supporting job seekers through training enhances your organization’s profile as a community-focused employer.

Program Streams

Employers selected to participate in the Workplace Training Program must be able to provide valuable on-the-job learning or facilitate meaningful work experience, with the potential for continued employment once the training contract concludes. The program includes two options:

1. On-the-Job Training

  • Training takes place at your worksite

  • You commit to hiring and training an individual for a period of 8 to 16 weeks

  • Prospect provides a training contribution for the full duration of the learning plan

  • Ideal for building specific skills and preparing participants for long-term employment with your team

2. Paid Work Experience

  • Short-term placement of up to 3 weeks

  • Designed to help Albertans enter the workforce quickly

  • Participants are introduced to real job duties, workplace expectations, and safe work practices

  • An opportunity for both parties to assess fit before a longer-term hire

How It Works

You bring the opportunity, and Prospect supports the process. We:

  • Pre-screen and assess participants for job readiness

  • Provide ongoing support during the placement

  • Handle administrative tasks and reporting

  • Work with you to ensure a smooth onboarding and training experience

Our Candidates

Workplace Training participants are unemployed or underemployed Albertans (working fewer than 20 hours per week) who are actively working to re-enter the labour market. Many have previous experience or transferable skills and are motivated to make a strong impression in their new role.

Prospect’s Transition to Employment Services provides each participant with access to:

  • Career assessments and planning

  • Resume and job application support

  • Funded short courses (if eligible)

  • Interview and workplace preparation

  • Ongoing employment retention follow-up

This comprehensive approach ensures your new hires are supported and ready to contribute.

Communities We Serve

We work with employers and job seekers in:
Airdrie, Strathmore, Cochrane, Crossfield, Chestermere, Springbank, Carseland, Beiseker, and Balzac.
