Program Streams
Employers selected to participate in the Workplace Training Program must be able to provide valuable on-the-job learning or facilitate meaningful work experience, with the potential for continued employment once the training contract concludes. The program includes two options:
1. On-the-Job Training
Training takes place at your worksite
You commit to hiring and training an individual for a period of 8 to 16 weeks
Prospect provides a training contribution for the full duration of the learning plan
Ideal for building specific skills and preparing participants for long-term employment with your team
2. Paid Work Experience
Short-term placement of up to 3 weeks
Designed to help Albertans enter the workforce quickly
Participants are introduced to real job duties, workplace expectations, and safe work practices
An opportunity for both parties to assess fit before a longer-term hire
How It Works
You bring the opportunity, and Prospect supports the process. We:
Pre-screen and assess participants for job readiness
Provide ongoing support during the placement
Handle administrative tasks and reporting
Work with you to ensure a smooth onboarding and training experience
Our Candidates
Workplace Training participants are unemployed or underemployed Albertans (working fewer than 20 hours per week) who are actively working to re-enter the labour market. Many have previous experience or transferable skills and are motivated to make a strong impression in their new role.
Prospect’s Transition to Employment Services provides each participant with access to:
Career assessments and planning
Resume and job application support
Funded short courses (if eligible)
Interview and workplace preparation
Ongoing employment retention follow-up
This comprehensive approach ensures your new hires are supported and ready to contribute.
